You have probably made this fitness mistake before. You work out for long periods and do some type of aerobic exercise and in an effort to get results as quickly as possible you do it often.
You maybe lose a few pounds, but you don’t get the results you were really hoping for and you certainly come nowhere close to getting those 6 pack abs you saw in Men’s Health magazine.
So where did it all go wrong?
Chances are that you were exercising too long, too often.
For shaping your body, brief and intense workouts are far better and this is where we geeks have a real advantage.
Being time poor, we simply don’t have hours to spend in the gym. The good news is that we don’t need to and that shorter workouts with greater intensity are actually preferable to longer, sustained medium to low intensity workouts if you are trying to shape your body.
This type of training is also know as interval training and cardio interval training has been shown to burn more fat than training for the same time at a unaltered medium level of intensity.
What this means for geeks, is that you really don’t need to put aside as much time to go to the gym as you may have thought. In fact about 45 minutes a day (even less for cardio workouts) and you can get in very good shape. Being time poor, is actually an advantage because it forces you to be smart about your workouts!
Soon, we’ll have a few workouts you can do in these short time periods to get you dropping some pounds so stay tuned.
